Become A Volunteer
We are so grateful for our amazing team of volunteers and can't wait to have you at Storybridge!! We want to make it fun and convenient for you to come get your hands in the work.
To accommodate your schedule and skills, we offer multiple opportunities to get involved:
Book Sorting
Kinderbridge Playgroups
New Book Stickering
Book Distribution
Book Drives
Storybridge LIVE Event Prep and Support
Book Sorting
We need your help sorting books donated to us from the community. These volunteers assess book quality and then place the book into the appropriate category:
Board Books
Picture Books
Leveled Readers
Beginner Chapter Books
Middle Grade Chapter Books
There is some standing, bending, and walking involved in this job.
We like our book sorters to be at least 15 years old.
Book Stickering
When we purchase a shipment of new books, this team makes sure those books get a Storybridge sticker. This is an easy job for adults as well as supervised kids 6 and up. Sometimes we have a lot of new books to sticker, and sometimes we're all caught up. If you have a group of kids under 15 that want to pitch in at Storybridge, email Sara@storybridgeama.org to see if we have enough new books to make a job for them.
Kinderbridge Playgroups
We need special volunteers to assist with our Birth-5 guided playgroups. They are offered 6 times/month, but we encourage volunteers to just pick 1 or 2 each month that work for your schedule. The groups are Monday mornings and Tuesday mornings and take about 2 hours of volunteer time (setup + 90 minute sessions). Here is how the time breaks down for volunteers:
10:00-10:15 Volunteers arrive for a quick overview of the materials and activities prepared for that day
10:30-11:00 Parents drop their children off to play with volunteers in one room while they attend their Parent Coaching group with Sara in another room. At 11:00, they come and get their kids.
11:00-11:30 While Sara has all the parents and kids, volunteers clean up the room where kids were playing and set up new centers for the parents to use at 11:30.
11:30-12:00 Parents are using the centers to play with their kids. Volunteers are free to interact, visit, and help parents who have multiple kids. At noon, we say goodbye and pack up!

Storybridge LIVE
This is our annual fundraiser event at Hodgetown involving 10-12 book characters for kids to meet, face painting, balloon animals, special activities based on well-loved stories, and more! It takes a great volunteer effort (picture: 100 volunteers!) to make this event magical for kids and we are so grateful for all who want to help. Email Sara if you want to add an individual or group to this crucial group of helpers! Some volunteer needs will be:
Blowing up balloons
Setting up supplies
Mascots
Mascot guides
Line management
Ticket taking
and more…
