“I hope this kindness comes back to you.”
I don't personally know Yasmin. I don't even know what she looks like. But when we received a batch of thank you letters from an elementary school a few days ago, her sentence had an instant impact on me.
If there's one thing I've learned about leading a nonprofit organization, it's how much of my job is, simply put - gratitude. Feeling it, expressing it, and coming back the next day to feel it again - anew! Now that I think about it, it is the overwhelming feeling of this job, by a long shot. And it never gets old!
Gratitude to...
our staff for their talent and passion for this work
people who donate books out of compassion for kids
our financial supporters that make these programs at all feasible
our volunteers for giving precious hours of their life to serve
AISD personnel for their collaboration and hospitality
our board for their support and mentorship
so much more...
I hope for YOU the same thing Yasmin hopes. However many of these categories that you may be in, please accept this simple and profound blessing: I hope this kindness comes back to you.
